New Image Youth Center structures our K-12 programming

Taking It To The Floor 2.0

Taking It to the Floor 2.0 is a male mentoring program focusing on the unique needs of boys and young men of color. Mentors in the program provide important guidance in areas such as impulse control, the importance of brotherhood, and “man talks.” The program has generated impressive results, rewarding our young men for good grades and behaviors.

Activity Bus

Our activity bus is equipped with all of the supplies for programming on the go. The bus provides a mobile NIYC experience for children and teens with a mobile hotspot, a food pantry, and a fun hang out spot to call their own.

NIYC launched Bringing the Good to Your Hood (“BG2YH”) in early 2022. In partnership with grassroots community partners, we take our programming on the road three days a week to:

Pine Hills

Oak Ridge

OBT

The BG2YH bus is equipped with supplies to conduct play therapy as well as individuals or small group counseling with a licensed mental health counselor.

Ladies Of Destiny Step Team

The Ladies of Destiny Step Team was established in 2016 and provides our students the opportunity to express themselves by executing rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken words, and hand claps. The Ladies of Destiny participated in local and regional competitions, once finishing among the top step teams in the country.

Mixed Martial Arts

Our Mixed Martial Arts program meets weekly, providing a safe environment for our youth to understand the basics of grappling and combat sports. MMA participants are given the opportunity to regularly test their skills by participating in local competitions.

The Give Team

The Give Team is New Image Youth Center’s own obstacle course racing and endurance event team with a focus on developing leadership and goal achievement skills. The Give Team holds a weekly workout every Saturday and regularly participates in events and competitions throughout the southeast.
